Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a curriculum?  Where does the curriculum come from?

We follow the curriculum set by the Diocese of Richmond.  Many of our standards are similar to, but more rigorous than, the Virginia Department of Education standards; however, we do not follow the VDOE exclusively.

Do you have to be Catholic to teach at Lourdes?

You do not have to be Catholic to be a teacher here.  You do need to be Catholic to teach religion class.  If you are not Catholic, and your grade level required education to be taught in your class (K – 5), another Catholic teacher will teach your class and you will assist.

Are all of the kids Catholic?

No.  We are a diverse community among our students and faculty/staff. Only about 60% of our community is Catholic.
