Father Jonathan Goertz

Pastor

Fr. Jonathan Goertz has served as pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes parish and school since July 2021. He grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, and graduated from the College of William and Mary. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Catholic Diocese of Richmond in 2010. He served for a year at the Cluster Parishes of Portsmouth and Chesapeake, for four years as pastor of St. Timothy parish in Tappahannock, and for six years as pastor of Sacred Heart parish and school in Danville. In 2020 he earned a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) in the New Evangelization from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, after which Bishop Knestout asked him to chair a newly revitalized Diocesan Evangelization Commission. He enjoys the performing arts, homemade chocolate chip cookies, and traveling around the world to experience how our faith is expressed in different cultures.
